July 2026 – Dear FGLC Family,
We are writing to share incredibly exciting news: beginning August 15th, Family Golf and Learning Center will undergo a major renovation of our driving range — a project we believe will transform the practice experience at FGLC and set a new standard for our facility as a whole. We will officially close our Driving Range on August 15th for this renovation and, during the closure, upgrade our Driving Range experience. We are expecting to reopen the Driving Range and be fully operational by December 2026. The project’s start date was unexpectedly moved up, catching us off guard. Once the schedule was set, we decided to proceed this Fall instead of delaying to another season. The current state of the driving range has become increasingly challenging, with frequent issues such as trenching, puddling, difficulty growing grass, dust, and ongoing repair costs for our range equipment, which struggles with the terrain due to poor drainage and irrigation. We’ve been compelled to undertake this renovation for operational reasons. Additionally, this upgrade will allow us to enhance the driving range and practice facilities at Family Golf and Learning Center, which we believe is equally exciting.
What the Project Includes
This is a comprehensive, ground-up renovation of our 11-acre range field, including:
– Installation of a new irrigation main line
– Supports the addition of over 70 new irrigation heads
– Extends the life of the existing system that serves our East and West Grass Tees and Short Game Areas
– Installation of two drainage lines and drain basins
– Efficiently shed the water off the Driving Range
– Dig out and connect all lakes on the golf course
– Supply adequate water storage to support Driving Range drainage
– Soil used to grade the Driving Range and improve areas on the golf course
– Grade the Driving Range and create slopes and targets
– Create slope and add depth perception and visual ball landing from the tee
-Allows us to elevate the appearance and recreate a golf look on the range
– Install HGT Bluegrass sod on the Driving Range field
– A dense grass that allows for a closer cut and a clean, consistent look
– Efficient range ball retrieval
– Install Toptracer Range technology on all 60 bays of the Double Decker
– Camera-based golf ball tracking technology
– Screen and shot data on every bay on the Driving Range
– Upgraded and enhanced practice experience
Proper drainage and irrigation result in healthier turf, faster field drying, reduced ball loss in the ground, and improved efficiency of our range operations. When the ground isn’t chewing up and burying balls the way it does today, we can keep cleaner, better-quality range balls in circulation, which means a better ball for you to practice with every time you visit.
The most exciting part of our renovation for our golfers is the installation of Toptracer!
Introducing Toptracer Range
We are proud to announce that FGLC will install Toptracer Range technology across all 60 bays on our Double Decker!
Toptracer transforms the traditional driving range experience, turning every practice session into an interactive, data-driven, and genuinely fun experience. Using camera-based technology, golfers get real-time shot data — including distance, ball speed, launch angle, height, and shot shape — on every single swing. Beyond the data, Toptracer offers engaging virtual games, skills challenges, and the ability to play famous courses from around the world, right from your bay. Every session is automatically saved to your personal Toptracer profile, so you can review your shot data, track your progress over time, and truly measure your improvement.
With Toptracer Coach, we’re also excited to elevate our Player Development programming. Across our Golf Instruction, Junior Golf programs, Clinics, and Camps, our coaches at FGLC will now be able to provide real, data-backed feedback, track player improvement over time, and prescribe targeted practice for every engaged golfer.
This is an incredible technology, and we couldn’t be more excited to bring it to our golfers. We can’t wait for you to experience just how much more effective your practice and instruction can be with Toptracer.
For more on the technology itself, visit Toptracer’s official site to see it in action.
Lastly, while many facilities offer Toptracer on a limited number of bays or charge by the hour to access it, FGLC will offer it across all 60 bays, included in your normal range visit. We believe this positions FGLC as offering the best, most complete practice experience in the region.
FGLC Remains Open During Construction
We know this closure is a real inconvenience, especially for the many of you who visit us regularly, hold Range Cards or Memberships, and have built your practice routine around FGLC. We do not take that lightly, and we want to be clear about what will and will not be affected.
Only the driving range itself will be closed during construction. Every other part of FGLC will remain fully open and operating as normal, including:
– Our Golf Course
– Our Short Game Areas
– All indoor amenities, including our TrackMan Simulators, Triad Bank Scoring Lab, Lessons, and Club Fittings
Our Commitment to Our Members
For our Members, we want you to know exactly how we’re handling the closure:
Your membership will be extended by the exact number of days the range is closed, so you don’t lose any time you’ve paid for.
During the closure period, Members will receive free golf on our course as our way of keeping you engaged with FGLC while the range is under construction.
All existing discounts, including your 1/2 off savings on Trackman SIM and Short Game Green bookings, along with all other FGLC member benefits, will remain fully honored throughout the closure and upon reopening.
This commitment doesn’t end when construction starts — we intend to honor it fully once we reopen.
Thank You
To every member of our FGLC family — our loyal customers, our Members, and everyone who has made FGLC a part of your golf routine — THANK YOU. FGLC has grown into what it is today because of your continued trust and support, and that’s not lost on us as we take this necessary next step.
From the day we took over in 2018, we’ve made countless improvements at FGLC, always with one goal in mind: providing you with the best practice experience possible. We want to share the game of golf with the entire community and provide every golfer with the resources they need to reach their goals. The beauty of this renovation is that it stands directly in line with that vision from day one. Delivering the best for our golfers has always been our promise, and completing this renovation is simply us continuing to honor it. Thank you for standing with us and believing in our mission to give you a first-class practice facility.
We understand this renovation will cause disruption, and we’re genuinely sorry for the short-term inconvenience it creates — for our golfers and our staff alike. But we’re confident that what comes out on the other side will be worth it. FGLC will become a truly one-of-a-kind, first-class practice experience that raises the standard for what golfers in the St. Louis community can expect from their driving range.
We’ll be sharing updates as construction progresses, so you can follow along and see this project take shape. Thank you, as always, for being part of the FGLC family.
Play Your Best,
Adam & Melissa Betz
